About

Basic Stuff

I’m so thankful you stopped by to check out my blog and site. Feel free to poke around awhile. I’m here because I like to write and blogging allows me to process and express my thoughts. Typically I write about ministry, life, philosophy, culture… whatever is interesting me during my season of life. I really enjoy discovering how various disciplines interact with each other, what’s called the Medici Effect.

About Me:

I’m a technologist, writer, speaker, pastor, ministry coach, dissertation adviser, and a serial entrepreneur. Ministry has been a journey for me that started when I was fifteen, though I got my first commentary when I was twelve. But ministry has occurred through paid staff positions and positions as a IT professional – I helped build three internet companies in Florida in the mid to late 90’s and early 2000’s. In fact, I love being around people who don’t know Jesus more than those who do, nudging them toward Jesus any way I can.

I’m somewhat of a nerd – I love reading and thinking and processing what I read. But I am also a huge Alabama football fan as I grew up in the state. I’m passionate about SEC football and enjoy watching it during football season.

I have a BS in Computer Information Systems from Athens State College in Athens, AL, an M.Div. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and a D.Min. from George Fox Seminary where I studied with Len Sweet. I’ve also done post-graduate work in communications from the University of South Florida and the University of Alabama.

Between 2004-2012, I was the pastor of a subversive church in Smyrna, DE called Mission Fellowship, approaching ministry from different angles and perspectives in order to invest Jesus in the lives of others.

In 2012, I moved back to Alabama and am working in the technology field again as an IT Department Manager.

I’ve been at this blogging gig for a long time now. I can’t always get things right, though I strive for accuracy. In other words, I won’t be held liable for content that misses the mark. You have my promise that I’ll be honest and forthright, but I also hope for your grace if I get something wrong. Thanks!
